Million Dollar Highway
After the RV Entrepreneur Summit in Montrose, Colorado we began the long drive back home to South Texas. First on our list of must sees on the journey home was the Million Dollar Highway. The highway runs north through the San Juan Mountains for about a 25 mile stretch. It follows the route of U.S. 550 between Silverton and Ouray.
This was the most spectacular drive I’ve ever seen. Absolutely stunning views, winding roads with steep drop offs and beautiful weather made this the drive of a lifetime. The photos can’t possibly capture the beauty of this area.
New Mexico
Once we hit New Mexico, the scenery began to change, but was still beautiful. We stopped just across the New Mexico border at Honeyville, the cutest little honey factory. It’s a great spot to stop for gifts and fresh honey!
We made it to Albuquerque before stopping for the night. As mentioned here, we spent a little time at the penny slots and then settled into the casino parking lot for the night. It was a nice night and we even slept with the windows open.
We couldn’t pass Roswell, New Mexico and not stop! So we meandered around downtown for a couple of hours before heading on into Texas.
We had one more overnight stop where we cleaned out the van and did our laundry before heading into our final stretch home. I already made a list of places we didn’t have time to see in Colorado that we want to be sure to make time to see next year.
