After arriving in Charleston for wedding festivities, we headed straight to the Wedding Meet and Greet. Seeing these two cousins get to celebrate and catch up was a sweet moment.
After a bit of socializing, the wedding party decided to check out the John King Grill and Dueling Piano Bar. If you’re in downtown Charleston, make sure you check it out! Located at 428 King Street, this spot showcases talented musicians and such a fun crowd! We went upstairs right away, but downstairs is a bar and grill with what I’m told is delicious food, including Smash Burgers and Bacon Fat Chicken Wings. Upstairs was another laid-back atmosphere and a stage with dueling pianos. I met a group from Canada in town for a bridal shower and a group of girlfriends celebrating a friend’s 30th birthday all dressed as senior citizens, singing and dancing to fun favorites.
Service showcased Charleston’s southern hospitality as expected. If you go, make sure you call ahead because the piano show is only on certain nights and they have events as well. Downtown Charleston roads can get narrow and are difficult to navigate at night, especially in an RV. We parked and took an Uber to John King’s and would definitely choose to do this again if driving any type of recreational vehicle. John King’s is right on the corner and drop off and pick up is super convenient even on a busy, crowded weekend.
Make sure you ask about the cover charge for the Dueling Piano Show. I believe it was $10, but it might vary. There are tables available outside if you prefer the outdoor downtown atmosphere.
